ABOUT

Built to fix one screen.

TapeRank is built and run by Gravy Brands LLC, doing business as TapeRank, in the United States. It started as a fix for one specific annoyance: every screener on the desk ranked on the whole day, so a stock that gapped before the open and died by mid-morning was still the first thing on the screen at two in the afternoon. The list you were watching was a list of what had happened, not of what was happening.

The product is one list of 25 names, re-ranked every 5 seconds by inputs that look back 15 minutes or less, so stale movers fade and leave on their own. Each row carries a committed judgment on whether a public filing explains the move, because "why is this moving" is the next question every time. The rest of the app is deliberately small.

Two things shape every decision in it. Unknown is never shown as zero: a figure that cannot be measured is left empty rather than estimated. And nothing is invented: a model that hedges is not shown, a delay is stated where it applies, and what the app does and does not show is written down on the how it works page, limits included.

It is a screening tool, not advice, and it routes no orders. If you want to talk about it, the address is support@taperank.com. If you want to use it, it is at app.taperank.com.
